From the FREEPORT JOURNAL, Freeport, PA, Friday, 7 November 1924, p. 1:
VALUABLE LIBRARY BURNED
A home on the farm of H.H. Sipes, of South Buffalo, caught fire last Friday from a spark falling on the roof and was destroyed. It was occupied by Charles Sipes who saved a part of the contents, but a heavy loss fell on his brother H.H. Sipe, of Butler, who had a library stored in the upper part of the building and which was a total loss. There were many valuable volumes relating to the history of the Indians of this state which he had been accumulating for very many years, some of them rare and can not be replaced.
