From the VALLEY DAILY NEWS, Tarentum, PA, Thursday, 12 June 1958, p. 12:
MRS. KLUGH HONORED BY LEGION AUXILIARY
It's not very often that an organization has the honor of celebrating the 89th birthday of a charter member, so Leechburg American Legion Auxiliary felt privileged to plan a special evening for Mrs. Anna Klugh recently.
The sprightly great-grandmother of four was overwhelmed with the surprise party in the Legion Home following a brief business session. She blew out the candles on her birthday cake as members sang "Happy Birthday" and was presented a number of gifts and a card shower.
The oldest member of the auxiliary, Mrs. Klugh has held continuous membership in the local organization since 1924. She is quite active and enjoys good health. She is the mother of two children, Mrs. Roy Bruner of Apollo and Harry of Leechburg, and also has four grandchildren.
Red roses and red candles were used in the table appointments by Mrs. Carolyn Eshelman, hostess chairman, assisted by Miss Josephine Rubus and Mrs. Mary Sharp.
Mrs. Nathanial Knepshield presided at the business meeting when the following were named delegates to the state convention in Philadelphia from July 23 to July 26: Mrs. Knepshield, Mrs. Harry Klugh and Mrs. Clarence Cockroft.
Reports were also given concerning the County Council meeting and the Memorial Day dinner sponsored by the auxiliary and Leechburg Elks Lodge and served by members of the auxiliary.
